
Dr Rod Gillespie
Dr Gillespie has been practicing dermatology in the Newcastle area for over twenty years. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Sydney and completed his postgraduate training in dermatology at Royal Newcastle Hospital in 1987. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at John Hunter Hospital/Royal Newcastle Centre and at Mater Calvary Hospital. He is a Conjoint Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at Newcastle University.
Dr Gillespie has an interest in all aspects of dermatology, in particular:
- Skin cancer diagnosis, surgery and management
- Inflammatory and infectious skin conditions including acne, eczema and psoriasis
- The treatment of cosmetic problems of concern to both male and female patients
He is a member of the Australasian College of Dermatologists the only body in Australia responsible for the education and accreditation of specialists trained in the management of skin cancer and skin disease, and he is also a member of The American Academy of Dermatology and The Australian Medical Association.
Dr Gillespie is committed to continuing medical education by his attendance at local and overseas medical conferences and participation in regular clinical and scientific meetings.
Outside medicine Dr Gillespie's interests include music, literature, travel, film and rugby.
