Dr Rod Gillespie
Dr Gillespie has been practicing dermatology in the Newcastle area for over twenty years. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Sydney and completed his postgraduate training in dermatology at Royal Newcastle Hospital in 1987. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at John Hunter Hospital/Royal Newcastle Centre and at Mater Calvary Hospital. He is a Conjoint Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at Newcastle University.
Dr Gillespie has an interest in all aspects of dermatology, in particular:
- Skin cancer diagnosis, surgery and management
- Inflammatory and infectious skin conditions including acne, eczema and psoriasis
- The treatment of cosmetic problems of concern to both male and female patients
He is a member of the Australasian College of Dermatologists the only body in Australia responsible for the education and accreditation of specialists trained in the management of skin cancer and skin disease, and he is also a member of The American Academy of Dermatology and The Australian Medical Association.
Dr Gillespie is committed to continuing medical education by his attendance at local and overseas medical conferences and participation in regular clinical and scientific meetings.
Outside medicine Dr Gillespie's interests include music, literature, travel, film and rugby.
Dr Jack Sippe
Dr Sippe is an Australian graduate from the University of Sydney and an Australian Qualified Specialist in Dermatology. He is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatology. His postgraduate hospital training was in Newcastle for three years before undertaking specialist dermatology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. After obtaining his specialist qualifications he undertook further training in Dermatology at John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, U.S.A, for one year, where he was Chief Medical Resident.
Currently Dr Sippe provides specialist clinics at John Hunter Hospital and visits the Mater Hospital and private hospitals for consultations. He also acts as a lecturer and Clinical Tutor at the University of Newcastle and New England Medical School and as a Clinical Tutor for the Dermatology Training programme.
Dr Sippe has special interests in:
- Inflammatory skin conditions
- Eczema, acne and psoriasis - both adult and paediatric
- Skin cancer and melanoma diagnosis, surgery and management
- Occupational dermatology
He has also undertaken additional training in Workers Compensation and is qualified for the assessment of dermatological work related issues.
Dr Sippe has a wide range of non-medical interests including all sports and agriculture.
